Log #34: Tariffs
My project time feels fractured at the moment. And it is to some extent - I’ve increased the number of contracting hours I’m doing slightly back to where it was before, and some of my project time is going on some personal tasks that I’ve been putting off. So really, my projects are just a lower priority right now. I’m hoping that changes by the end of the month.
This week I updated the ebook’s content a little and completed a section in the newsletter. I’ll finish the newsletter early next week and publish it all at the end of the week.
Since the last time I sent products to the US, tariffs have been introduced and enforced, so I had to pay 10% of the purchase price of the product, plus some kind of admin fee. I absorbed the cost this time since I haven’t really been keeping up with that stuff. But it may mean I have to stop selling physical products to US-based customers or increase the price by a few dollars. It’s not a huge deal to me - the physical products don’t make much money in the first place, but people do enjoy them.
Continuing from there, do I stop selling the physical product altogether? I’m close to selling out of my current stock, so I have to make a decision soon.
