Log #30: No data for this keyword
I was supposed to do keyword research first thing this week, but instead I had a few emails to respond to. And from one of those emails, I was given permission to republish an article from 1986, so that was cool.
I paid for ahrefs’ starter plan and started some keyword research. Initially, I looked at some keywords related to the project I’ve been considering reviving. There’s basically no data on those keywords - I guess it’s so niche that there’s not a lot of volume. But on the other hand, with less volume and competition it’s much easier to rank. So does the number of pages and the long tail mean I can get a reasonable amount of traffic? If I don’t have any other ideas in the next couple of weeks, I’m probably going to do it.
Keywords on the other idea I mentioned last week were also fairly thin on data, so I’m not really better informed.
I opened the ebook for the first time in a few weeks, made some tweaks, and published it as V1.0.1 alongside a changelog to document the edits over time.
Late this week, I spent some time adding some nice filtering and a search to a directory page to make it much easier to find the items on the page. It was a much-needed update that I’ve been putting off for a while, but I’m glad it’s done.
The other day I found out that Netlify’s LFS was deprecated because I attempted
to install the Netlify CLI and set up large media on a new system, so I need
to migrate off of it.
The ‘large’ media I have right now is under 200MB, so I might just not bother
with LFS and track the images directly in git
, I honestly can’t be bothered
with the additional steps.
Finally, I created a quick outline of the next newsletter, which I’m planning to publish in a couple of weeks.
Almost certainly no log next week because I’m not working for most of the week. I wish it was for a break, but it’s not - that’s coming mid September.
