Log #27: My biggest launch yet

I spent my time this week putting together a newsletter to announce the new ebook. A significant chunk of that was on the announcement segment, and I think it paid off.

Amazingly, while writing the announcement, someone bought it – they found the shop page themselves, and that was enough for them to make the purchasing decision.

I’m not going to lie, I was anxious scheduling the announcement. I always am when marketing stuff, for some reason I get imposter syndrome, fear of backlash, stuff like that. When the first sale came in (before the announcement), my heart rate spiked!

I shouldn’t worry so much. Half an hour after sending the announcement, 7 people bought the book. And sales kept coming in throughout the evening. Though interestingly, despite including a 25% discount code in the email to celebrate the launch, not everyone used it.

Regardless, it ended up being my biggest launch ever!

I almost wrote something about how it’s not that big a deal and how it’s not that much. But this is one of those times I should be proud of myself. I put in a ton of time and effort.

A sale from a digital product hits different, especially compared to a physical product: massive margin, no inventory, no packaging materials to buy, no trips to the post office.

Obviously, I was aware of those benefits of a digital product – that’s one reason I created it in the first place. But maybe this is one of those things that people have to experience themselves to truly ‘get’?

I can see why people get addicted to it. Maybe getting addicted would encourage me to do more marketing.

What’s next

  • Work through my TODO list to clean up some lingering tasks.
  • Some admin tasks that I’ve been putting off.
