Log #15: Draft two, on hold

During the first half of the week I worked on the info product, mostly figuring out what I need to do for draft two, which will (hopefully) also be the version I publish.

I found that the content was actually not that bad. Some bits need expanding on, reorganizing, refactoring, that kind of thing. So I’ve made notes and I’ll come back to it with some fresh eyes in a couple of weeks after I publish an article. A little time away may help refresh me when I come back to it.

After pausing progress on the info product, I jumped onto writing an article. It’s been a while - like nine months since the last proper article I wrote solo.

My process is usually to collect everything I possibly can - all of my research, images, stories, thoughts - and dump them in some kind of order into a markdown file. I try and write whatever comes to mind without worrying too much about what I’m saying, it’s about realizing the thoughts, not trying to come up with perfect paragraphs in order. By the end of this coming week, I’m hoping to have put down basically all of my thoughts in a rough structure and to have a clear path forward to a first draft.

A courier arrived on Friday to collect the desk chair I ordered back in March – the one that I refused to accept when the first courier arrived with the mangled package months ago. I’ve basically just checked out over the whole fiasco at this point. I’m tired of it. I just want the chair. It should be here next week. And I desperately hope it’s worth it.

What’s next

  • Finish article ideation ready for a first draft.
  • Finally receive the chair?
