The British summer is the best in the world
It can be difficult to be patriotic in today’s Britain, but the British summer is literally the best in the world.
While this summer has been a bit more extreme than average with a drought and record-breaking heatwaves, I still believe it. I find it baffling when people leave the country to visit a hotter one from June until the end of August.
Shall I compare thee to a winter’s day?

Look at everywhere else:
- Spain: can’t be outside at midday
- Singapore: sweat standing still
- Iceland: too light to sleep
- California: brown and dry
- Dubai: live indoors
- Florida: storms
- Japan: sticky heat
- Finland: mosquitoes
- Hong Kong: typhoons
- Norway: too cold
- Australia: fire
- India: lol
None of that is true here. The days go on forever but still get dark. It’s cool enough at night. It’s warm enough for a t-shirt. Not too hot to be outside at noon. Light breezes. You don’t sweat standing still. The grass stays green because it still rains occasionally. A bad day is drizzle. You can sit outside without being eaten. People visit beer gardens as if they’d been waiting all year (they have).
The only thing that would improve the British summer is air conditioning in homes.
